A rat race is a term used for an endless,self-defeating or pointless pursuit.
In BSNL we can see so many Direct Recruits competing against each other to prove that one is better than the other in front of our Promoted senior staff’s. We DR’s will do the job of JTO/ SDE/ DE. Our DE’s & SDE’s will also encourage it, so that they can relax. All Direct Recruits are working & working
& working…………… Can any Direct Recruit find a similar promoted JTO/SDE/DGM (only a few brilliant exceptions) struggling so hard to prove who is better amongst themselves or someone who works after 5 pm in our telephone exchanges except on shift duty. In most of our customer centers; staff stop collecting BSNL bills by 4pm (2pm in some places) even when people are standing in queue to pay the bills. Hard work is important but Hard Work alone is not going to get us things done.
We Direct Recruits have all sorts of problems in BSNL. EPF issue, Pay anomaly issue, least superannuation contribution, non-implementation of DoPT guidelines—No Promotion. Who is going to come for us. Some are waiting for Gods to come as an avatar amongst us to solve all our problems.
Has any Direct Recruits thought why we only have problems?
We DR’s don’t stand united. We mistrust our leaders. We take every opportunity to prove who is smarter amongst us. We split the platform , erase the voice!
There are some DR’s who owe allegiance to AIGETOA but never contribute a single rupee but will have 1001 questions. What are you doing with the money collected; who are these leaders to tell us; who elected you as President/ Secretary. The questions are endless.
There is another set of DR’s who owe their allegiance to other associations. For getting good postings and
for staying close to their homes, they make other DR’s a scapegoat. Is there any thing common between an Eagle and a Chicken; they both share the same planet.
Those DR’s forgot the facts, the people with whom they sit are the ones who brought down their pay scale from E2 to E1A during 2002 pay-revision. The creators of E1A.
Those DR’s forgot the fact that for our Promotees they have nothing to lose. Majority of our promotees will retire in this decade, whether the company runs or not is not their headache. Most of them have already completed 20 years of service making them eligible for full pension. The 23-28% of Basic + DA is contributed by BSNL to DOT's Central Government pension fund to provide pension to this huge mass. Understand, the total mass eligible for this pension is around 40 Thousand Group B and 2.5 Lakhs Group C&D. Hence monthly contribution even if average salary taken as 25K including DA will be approx 6000 per month per employee. Around 10K DR's are in service with average salary 30K , BSNL contributes 3000 per month per DR. Just half

Why that when pay protection is going to be ensured some one else is protesting against what they call “demotion of JTO’s”. Whom are they fighting for?, You have to ask that question to yourself. Are they protecting someone else in your name, ask your soul; ask your so called comrades.

You are correct. We DRs facing many problems in BSNL. The promoties should not get pension from our hard work. It should be from DoTs account. DoTians are not eligible for pension from our hard work. Most of them are just waiting for retirement. We should unite for achieving our goals. There is urgency for reducing staff through CRS. Otherwise, our existence will become a question mark.
