Case 1. O.A No.1358/2010

Subject: Against JTO to SDE DPC for Non maintenance of Roster (seniority as per DoPT Guidelines also included)

Benefit:All DR up to 2002 and DR belonging to SC/ST of 2005&2007 & upcoming batches(on completion of 3 yrs service in JTO cadre) will immediately promoted to SDE under Seniority cum fitness quota.

Status:Interim stay earlier granted for restraining BSNL to conduct DPC has been modified. Now BSNL is allowed to conduct DPC but result is subjected to final verdict of court

Case 2 O.A No.983/ 2010

Subject:Against the qualification relaxation in BSNLMSRR for DE & Above

Benefit: LDCE passed DR SDE will immediately promoted to DE and in future only DR can become DEs and some of DR can raise to level of CGM, if possible up to Director/CMD level

Status:For Four months BSNL couldn’t able to file counter affidavit. So court granted Interim stay restraining BSNL to promote those unqualified to DE & above.

Case 3 W.P No.21520/2010 W.P Nos.21782 & 21783/2010

Subject:Against Non payment of EPF Subscription & Contribution By BSNL for Training period

Benefit:All DR JTO/TTA will get minimum Rs10000/- deposited in their EPF account by BSNL and the Pensionary Benefits.

Status: EPFO Chennai had already passed favorable orders. BSNL Management has gone on appeal against it. Case will be completed within two month

Case 4 O.A No. 36/2011

Subject: DoPT Seniority Case

Benefit:Sought to implement 1:1 Promotions as per the DoPT guidelines

Status:court granted Interim stay restraining BSNL to conduct DPC

Mobile phone to explode into space

Few corners of the globe are free from mobile phones, and now handsets are heading into space – where they could dramatically cut the cost of future space missions.

A team of researchers from the UK are planning to send an Android smartphone into orbit on board a 4kg nano-satellite later this year.

The research team from the University of Surrey and Surrey Satellite Technology will use the mission to determine whether off-the-shelf mobile phone technology can operate in the harsh environment of space. Once in space, the phone will be bombarded by cosmic and solar radiation, and experience temperatures that veer between extreme heat and cold.

A computer on the ground will check whether the phone is able to operate normally in orbit, and if no problems are found the phone will be used to perform tasks usually carried out by the satellite’s main avionics computer.

If mobile phone technology is able to function in space it would open the door to phone chipsets being used to control future satellite missions, providing a cheaper alternative to the customized spacecraft electronics that are used today.

Typically, spacecraft electronics are off-the-shelf components that have been hardened against cosmic radiation – a process that involves modifying chips so they can fail multiple times and still carry out the task demanded of them.

Hon'ble Chennai CAT has stayed of reversion of LDCE passed DRSDEs. This association has long been stressing that the reversal orders and show cause notices issued to our Members is totally unfair and uncalled for. Now the Hon'ble Chennai CAT has reiterated our view and have stayed the reversion process. Now its high time that taking cue from this decison, Management should rectify its mistake.

BSNL MS RR Court Case:: Update

BSNL MS RR Group A case in CAT, Madras Bench and the stay on operation of foot note 2 is continued. Next hearing on 21st Jan 2011.

Casual Labourer Issue before Standing Comittee on Labour .

Casual Labour contract in BSNL and issues related to them is now in front of Standing Committee on Labour. The Committee observed that earlier reports on "deployment of casual laboures in BSNL" are very casual and devoid of facts and has asked detailed reports to CMD BSNL and Secretary, DoT Memeber(services) .A questainaire on List of Points pondered by Hon'ble  Standing Committee on Labour is issued in this regard.( Available in BSNL Intranet)

KPN Netherlands Shuts PCO business

Dutch former monopoly KPN Telecom (or Royal KPN) has announced that it is shutting down its public payphone business, arguing that the widespread availability of mobile phones has made them virtually redundant.








Redundancy is the KPI of BSNL, so Shutdown is not possible (liquidation preferred)

Interim stay to DPC

EPFO plans to replace PF account number with UID number

The retirement fund manager EPFO plans to replace PF account number with unique identification number, a move which will help in speedy transfer of a subscribers' funds in case of job change and allow them to track their accounts online.The replacement of PF account number with the UID number will be done after inter-connecting all regional and sub offices of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) by March 2012. >>>>>>

EPF is the  lone dependable-secure investment for mid-size salaried personnels like us . Due to anarchic accounting of EPF prevails now with BSNL make the very substance of enrollment in EPFO at stake. Lets hope the UID happens with in one year will resolve a better part of EPF related problems.
